After huge success of the inaugural Joel Tudor Invitational held on the shores of Tofino in 2016, the Vans Duct Tape returned in 2017 as an innovators & creators inspired event to celebrate the diversity of surf culture.

Attracting fans & locals down to Cox Bay, the festival exhibited a unique collection of hand-shaped surfboards by craftsmen & surfers Alex Knost, Dane Reynolds, Joel Tudor and Tanner Gudauskas. Including their own personal quiver, the boards were open to the public to demo, and with surprisingly good surf conditions this welcomed riders to showcase their skills.
